Governors

Welcome from the Chair of Governors

On behalf of the governing body I'd like to welcome you to St Nicholas School. My name is Simon Newton and I’ve been a governor since October 2013 and Chair of Governors since September 2015.

As an Infants’ school we are uniquely placed to provide an amazing start to the learning journey that children begin with us. As a governing body we are committed to ensuring that St Nicholas provides an environment where everyone can start becoming the best they can be. I am constantly amazed (but not surprised) by the level of dedication and commitment shown by the school leadership team, by our teaching and support staff, and particularly by our children and parents.

As governors we work hard to ensure that our school is always focused on providing the best possible start in education for our children. As a Church of England school we also ensure that our children can grow and learn within a community based on distinctly Christian Values. We provide strategic direction and financial oversight, and we support and challenge our school leaders in equal measure to ensure the school is always focused on continuing success.

There is more information about the role and membership of the Governing Body on these pages, but if you have questions or would like to speak to me then please do so if you see me in and around school, or leave your details with the school office and I will contact you.

With best wishes

Simon Newton
