Our school aims to serve its community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice. It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith, and promotes Christian values through the experience it offers to all its pupils.
At St. Nicholas C.E. Infants’ School & FSU we uphold and nurture our Christian ethos by encouraging the following six distinctively Christian values:
Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin teaching and learning and provide an environment which prepares our pupils, helping them to become the best they can be.
As part of our Christian ethos we aim to develop spirituality. At St Nicholas we develop spirituality as a personal engagement with someone or something beyond ourselves from which grows a set of beliefs and values that give meaning to our lives.
"Spirituality is when you can't see it and touch it but you can believe it. You can believe values."
Year 1 child, Kingfisher Class
We have had a Prayer Space set up in school. With thanks to BeSpace and all the volunteers who helped make it happen, the children had the most wonderful opportunity to reflect and pray. I wish I could have captured the sense of awe and wonder to share with you! All our classes visited and worked with volunteers to think about different prayers. We had prayers to say sorry, thank you and please and prayers for our world and the people in it. We were inspired by the reflectiveness and thoughtfulness that went into children’s prayers. Below is a picture of our display in school which celebrated our prayer space.
Harvest Festival happens annually in October. This year the whole school attended and all children contributed to the celebration including our lovely little Mallards. We were delighted to have Revd. Rice join us and talk to us about the wonder of Harvest. Thank you so much for the generous contributions which have been taken to Wallingford foodbank.
St. Mary's Church is located in the market place in Wallingford. This is where we attend church services three times a year. We are always welcome at their family services. Take a look at their website for more information.
