Becoming The Best We Can Be
Our school day starts when our gate opens at 8:50am (8:30 for Nursery). Children make their way to their classrooms for registration; teachers are always available at the gate to answer any questions or to pass on any messages whilst children unpack their belongings.
Pupils in Key Stage One (Year 1 and 2) usually have a planned fifteen minute break during the morning, during which time they are provided with free fruit and vegetables.
Lunch is then staggered for each year group between 11:30 and 1:30pm. This includes 30 minutes in the hall to eat lunch and 30 minutes outdoor play.
Aside from this, school staff use the day as flexibly as possible to meet the learning objectives they have planned. Children would typically have an hour each for English and Maths, plus a Phonics session (for Reception and Key Stage One children), each day, but staff have flexibility in timetabling these to make the most of children’s learning time.
Our school day ends for all children at 3pm, at which time staff offer a range of after-school activities. Details of these are provided to parents. The total time in school in a typical week amounts to 30 hours and 50 minutes.
